We sat down with Mexican artist, producer and composer ROSUL who discusses the importance of authenticity, female representation and storytelling in Latin American music.
ROSUL is a vanguard in Mexican music who has been transforming the regional Mexican music scene with her bold presence and unique style. ROSUL is originally from Nogales, Sonora, México and often challenges norms and opens new pathways for Latin American music in a predominantly male-dominated genre.
Her exploration of ‘corridos tumbados’ addresses critical social issues like femicides and the immigrant experience, making her music a platform for awareness and change. Songs such as "8-MER," "31*3 TRANS," and "A Los Trece" reflect her commitment to powerful storytelling.
Beyond music, ROSUL shines in television and film, composing and singing in multiple successful television series like "Rosario Tijeras" and "El Dandy." She has also contributed to films like "Distancias Cortas" and "Familia Nacional," where she served as creator and composer of the soundtrack.
