Meet Caroline Kaye

Originally from Australia, Caroline relocated to the UK six years ago and has since gained extensive experience across various sectors of the film and media industry. Caroline began her career as a studio technician before transitioning into post-production full time. After several years working with a post-production company, she moved to the agency side. For the past two years, Caroline has specialised in the sports sector, working for a Sports Marketing Agency called Two Circles. Two Circles works with the world's leading sports and entertainment organisations, including the NFL, Premier League, Wimbledon, World Rugby, EA SPORTS and UEFA.

1. Can you tell us a bit about your current role and what motivated you to pursue a career in video editing and production within the sports industry?

I'm currently a video editor, working with some of the biggest sporting brands in the UK to help bring their stories to life through video. I've always been drawn to the energy and passion that sport creates, and combining that with the creativity of video production felt like a natural path.

2. As a video editor, what role does music play when you're working on an edit and how do you use music to enhance the projects you work on?

Music is the number one tool we use in editing to evoke emotion. Whether it's building anticipation, highlighting drama, or capturing the joy of a win, the right track can completely transform the feel of a piece.

3. Do you have a favourite project that you are most proud of?

There's not one single project, but over the past two years at Two Circles, I've been lucky enough to work across some of the biggest tournaments, Rugby World Cups, major cricket competitions, and Wimbledon. I particularly enjoy working closely with a specific client over weeks or even months, really getting to know their audience and being pushed creatively to keep the content fresh and engaging. Tournaments are always intense, but there's a huge sense of accomplishment when you see the final product and the impact it has.

4. What are some of the biggest challenges you have experienced working in your field, and how have you overcome them?

The sports industry moves incredibly fast, there's always something happening. It can be a challenge to keep up with the pace while still maintaining quality and creativity in every edit. You have to learn to be adaptable, stay organised, and collaborate closely with your team to make sure we're all on the same page.

5. Do you think female representation in sports has evolved, and how would you describe your experience as a woman working in the industry?

Female representation in sport has definitely evolved, but there's still more to do. Look at how far women's football has come in just a few years, there's clearly huge passion and appetite for women's sport, and as creatives, we have the power to help grow that even more.

As a video editor, which is often seen as a more technical or 'masculine' role, I've frequently been the only woman in the room, but that is slowly changing, at Two Circles, it's been refreshing to be part of a team where there are other women to look up to. Having a diverse group of people working in, and leading, the industry is the only way to reach new and broader audiences. We're moving in the right direction, but there's still a way to go.

6. What advice would you give to other women looking to pursue a career in sports broadcasting and production?

Don't let the perception of the industry or the lack of female representation hold you back. Your voice and perspective are not only valuable, they're essential. Find mentors, seek out companies that prioritise diversity, and build your confidence by getting stuck into as many creative opportunities as possible. Most importantly, back yourself. The industry needs more women telling stories, shaping narratives, and bringing fresh ideas to the table.
